Ready For This?, Theatre Royal, Norwich, 15th September 2009 by Shellb08

After arriving way too early to the new Norwich Theatre Royal and having purchased a bag programme and poster combo, we waited excitedly upstairs to be let into the auditorium. Looking around the circle there was such a range of different people there it was quite suprising really, not just youngsters as I had expected. There was a good atmosphere from the start, although I had this dread that Norwich were going to go quiet on him as they have done when I've been to other shows there, but they didn't, so phew! Firstly there was a chat about the lone boot upon the stage amongst the people I was with, and speculation to it's use as the intro music began. Then Tim appeared and of course everyone went wild. There was some awkwardness when he insulted religion, having a religious mate sat next to me, whom I avoided all eye contact with throughout those bits! The boobs song, got really big laughs. As did the cocky little fella Robin whom was the unfortunate that had to get into the bear costume! He did really well though. Phil Daoust seemed to be a hit for the Norwich audience, in the main for the words 'journo-loust'. If I Didn't Have You and Darkside were favourites on a personal level. When Tim left the stage there was a standing ovation from most of the circle, and rightly so, with much stamping and shouts for an encore.

So then he reappeared and did the most beautiful rendition of Hallelujah. I have to add I was one of those people with tears in my eyes when he sang Hallelujah- it sent shivers down my spine and was a lovely ending. Thanks to all those that pushed and pushed for him to do it.
