How often do we use LOL over the Internet or in a text message to convey the fact that we find something funny? A little too often if you ask Tim.
The main gripe this particular acronym faces is that more often than not it's an inaccurate depiction of what the (ab)user is doing at the time. I mean how often can you say you've actually laughed out loud at a picture on the Internet or a cheap joke sent on a text? (Mind you, how many times have you actually laughed your arse off too?)
You see, more often than not, when you see something amusing on your computer or mobile screen you will smirk in a mildly amused way. This observation has lead to the creation of MAS, mildly amused smirk, a much more meaningful and accurate acronym to convey how you feel about something.
So next time, when you find something funny, just think, "am I actually laughing at this?" If you find that you're not then MAS is the acronym for you!
